Concrete Materials Researcher

Full Time / Internship
Early Career / Experienced

Location: Edmonton, AB, Canada

About Genesis Data Solutions:

Genesis Data Solutions is a tech-enabled materials corrosion and integrity management consultancy leveraging AI-ACRIM+ (AI for Advanced Corrosion Risk and Integrity Management and Predictive Analytics) to enhance corrosion management across oil & gas and wastewater systems.

With deep expertise in AI, data analytics, and corrosion engineering, we deliver advanced solutions that improve system reliability, reduce operational risk, and optimize performance. Our approach integrates engineering knowledge with cutting-edge technology to provide innovative, efficient, and sustainable corrosion solutions.

Join Our Team:

At Genesis, we are advancing corrosion mitigation in concrete infrastructure through engineering research and AI-driven insights.

As a Concrete Materials Researcher, you will work on developing and optimizing eco-friendly concrete admixtures to address microbiologically influenced corrosion (C-MIC) in wastewater and infrastructure systems. Your work will directly contribute to improving durability, sustainability, and long-term performance of critical assets.

Your Role: Research & Material Innovation

You will lead experimental and analytical work focused on concrete materials, admixture design, and performance evaluation. Your research will support the development of sustainable solutions for corrosion-resistant infrastructure systems.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and characterize raw materials and feedstocks for eco-friendly concrete production
• Design and develop concrete admixtures to mitigate biodeterioration and corrosion (C-MIC)
• Conduct laboratory and field experiments, including casting, curing, and performance testing
• Analyze material behavior under varying environmental and operational conditions
• Perform technical and economic evaluations of admixture performance
• Prepare technical reports, research publications, and documentation
• Present findings at technical conferences and industry workshops
• Collaborate with engineering and research teams to align solutions with real-world applications

Why You’re Important to Our Mission:

Your work will directly support the development of corrosion-resistant, sustainable concrete systems, addressing critical infrastructure challenges in wastewater and industrial environments.

You will contribute to solutions that improve durability, reduce lifecycle costs, and enhance environmental performance.

We’re Looking For:

Educational Background:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Concrete Engineering, or related field

Professional Expertise:

• Experience in concrete materials, admixture design, or infrastructure systems
• Strong background in experimental research and data analysis
• Experience in technical reporting and proposal development

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of concrete testing methods and engineering standards
• Familiarity with material characterization and performance evaluation
• Understanding of durability and corrosion mechanisms in concrete systems

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant field
• Experience with eco-friendly or alternative feedstock-based concrete materials
• Background in wastewater or infrastructure corrosion challenges

What We Offer:

• Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications
• Potential share options
• Flexible work arrangements (remote / hybrid)
• Opportunities for research, publication, and professional development
• Collaborative and multidisciplinary work environment

Equal Opportunity Employer:
Genesis Data Solutions is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. We provide equal employment opportunities to all individuals and support accommodations where required.
