Magdy Girgis

Magdy Girgis is a Materials and Corrosion Professional with a Ph.D. in Metallurgical and Chemical Engineering from Laval University. He has over 35 years of national and international experience in operations and Central Engineering support to project teams and assets in materials selection, corrosion engineering & management, inspection, and integrity assessment in upstream oil and gas production obtained with several oil production and services companies including BJ Services, Core Laboratories, Shell Canada and as Shell Seconded at Petroleum Development of Oman (PDO), Shell technical advisor for Qatar Gas. Shell joint venture and ETSA program with KOC. He had been a key member of a team responsible for developing corrosion inhibition and corrosion monitoring programs; developing conceptual materials selection reports for sour gas production facilities such as gas plants; dehydration units, refinery equipment, and EOR steam flood in Canada and the Gulf countries: Oman; Qatar; Kuwait and UAE and Libya. He was also Shell technical authority TA-2 in materials & corrosion engineering and acted as TA-1 Alternate during the absence of the Corporate Function Discipline Head. As a key member of the team, he also carried out materials selection for the CO2 injection program in Alberta (Quest Project).

At Genesis, as a materials and corrosion lead, he provides technical materials and corrosion consultancy services in addition to business development and client management.
